Madison Square Garden, NYC - Last night's Wanamaker Mile proved to be an unexciting race where the outcome seemed pre-determined. While the build-up and pre-race highlights of Lagat's previous wins got the juices flowing, the actual race itself lacked any of the tension or unpredictability. His old countrymen, Asbel Kiprop, last years #1 ranked 1500 meter runner, did nothing to challenge Lagat in the last 400 meters and rather seemed to be an armed escort, protecting Lagat from any challengers, namely, NB games winner, Brit, Andrew Baddelly. While Lagat is a worthy champion and rightful bearer of the new moniker 'President of the Boards' the race that brought him the title seemed unworthy. Like the old Kenyan saying goes, "it takes a village to raise a President."
