Live at The Millrose Trials
Washinton Heights, NYC - Here at The Armory, the Catholic High School 4x800 is underway, the 1st of 4 sections, is won by Iona Prep. 2nd section won by Chaminade with a leading time of 8:21. 6 fastest teams make it into the games. 3rd heat won by Chaminade's B team? 4th and fastest heat up next, with presumably Chaminade's A team.. After this, girls 4x400...6 fastest teams punch a ticket to Madison Square Garden.
The boys Catholic High School 4x800 relay is a main highlight of the Millrose Games, and the 4th and fastest heat in the Trials last night was equally exciting and produced at minimum 4 of the 6 seeds advancing to the Games on Jan. 29th. Unfortunately, too distracted to catch the winner, the top 3 seeds were St. Anthony's, Fordam Prep, and Chaminade's A team, with the winning team coming in at 8:00 flat.
The girls Invitational Mile was equally exciting as Hayley McMahon of Arlington, just got under the 5min mark, 4:59.9, which was mandatory to get a spot on the line it the Millrose Games Girls Invitational Mile. She used a surge with about 400m to go and held on to get requisite time.
Finally, Coach Zoe Swenson's Sacret Heart 4x400 team, placed second, just a couple of seconds back, in their division to advance to the Games as well. Here's a video of anchor Dana Walsh's 62 sec. leg to move up from third to second place, insuring their place at Millrose.
